Addressing post-COVID isolation
The lingering effects of COVID-19 isolation continue to impact our young people, often combined with the pervasive influence of the internet and media. Many youth feel isolated and have their thoughts shaped by external sources. Not everyone has access to sports or recreation as an outlet. I believe in creating alternative, engaging spaces for all especially in our libraries.
Creating vibrant youth engagement
I envision a Pelham where young people are actively engaged and empowered. This means the Town of Pelham should focus on more attractive engagement options for youth. I advocate for expanded hours for programs and libraries, providing accessible and stimulating environments where young minds can flourish and connect. Leadership is for everyone and opportunities for leadership need to be created for all young people.
A dedicated space for youth-led initiatives
What makes this initiative truly special is its deliberate and purposeful design. This will be a dedicated place for youth to meet and develop their own programs, whether they involve book clubs, arts and culture projects, or other creative endeavours. I aim to foster and fund an environment where young people can take ownership of their interests and build community.
