Land Acknowledgement

We are guests here, and we should reflect upon the responsibility to care for the water, the air, the land, and the people who live here today, and the generations to come. Let us take time to reflect on our privilege to live and work here in a community built upon rich Indigenous histories.

We recognize the nations and peoples to whom we owe the biodiversity we’re trying to protect today. Through their experiences, we have access to the stewardship and stories of the many peoples who have traveled this land for so long.

If our actions today can move us toward Reconciliation with the people and the land, then we should take pause and make our decisions with intention and gratitude.

I am specifically grateful today for Indigenous rights advocates across Canada who push on with struggles for safe drinking water. This is a struggle that all Canadians must share.
