We cannot always rely upon the police to stop speeding and dangerous practices; we cannot afford it. Signs are easily ignored. The answer is not more speed limits or speed bumps. The enforcement model is not working effectively, and we need innovative solutions to ensure the safety of our community.
Families expect practical decisions, and that is what I work toward. Safety must come first on our roads. Our goal is simple: safe roads for everyone who lives, farms, and travels through Pelham.

Our commitment extends to ensuring safe roads for everyone. This includes drivers navigating their daily commutes, cyclists enjoying our beautiful trails, and pedestrians walking through their neighbourhoods. We believe that with a collaborative effort and a focus on practical solutions, we can achieve a safer environment for all who live, farm, and travel through Pelham. We cannot support the situation were rural parents are afraid to send their kids for the mail.
The power of defensive driving
If there is one thing to remember from this page, it is the importance of defensive driving. While we work on systemic improvements, individual responsibility remains paramount. Practicing defensive driving means being aware, anticipating hazards, and making safe decisions to protect yourself and others on the road. It’s a crucial step towards a safer Pelham. Sometimes people need to hear something several times from several sources before defensive driving is assimilated. I will advocate for free refresher defensive driving courses at the MCC.
