Bringing fixed routes to Pelham
The core purpose of the transit route expansion is to introduce fixed-route and fixed-scheduling services to Pelham. This will connect seamlessly with micro-transit hubs and our existing on-demand system, creating a comprehensive network. This expansion will significantly enhance transportation options for more people at a reduced cost per ride, ultimately saving taxpayer money. This initiative is designed for current transit users and neighbourhoods throughout Pelham, especially those located along Niagara Transit Regional Routes 504 and 509.
My commitment to accelerating transit
If elected, I intend to bring a motion to Pelham Council requesting that staff collaborate with Niagara Transit to devise an accelerated plan for regional service on Routes 504 and 509. The current expansion is scheduled for 2030, but I aim to accelerate this timeline to 2028. Furthermore, I am committed to ensuring this expansion is funded by fares, with no additional impact on the taxpayer. My goal is to deliver more efficient and accessible transit to our community sooner.
Unlocking new opportunities with expanded transit
The transit route expansion will provide easier access to the entire Niagara Region at a single, low fare. This opens up significant opportunities for employment, medical care, and education, all at an affordable cost. Residents will also gain access to GO Trains at three stations, along with connections to the Hamilton Street Railway. This expansion will unlock a wealth of new transit possibilities for everyone in our community, fostering greater connectivity and convenience.
